Pattaya Guide
Introduction to Pattaya
Pattaya has grown to be the second largest city in Thailand and is by far the most vibrant and cosmopolitan beach resort in South East Asia.
Originally a small fishing village, Pattaya came to prominence during the late 1960’s and has rapidly expanded into a city that annually welcomes over five million tourists and offers it’s large expatriate community some of the best infrastructure available in Thailand.
Located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, around 120 kilometres south of Bangkok, the city offers an amazing choice of high quality hotels, resorts, bars, restaurants and shopping options. Facilities and services are second to none, with a vast array of leisure and theme parks, cinema complex, shopping malls and many golf courses close at hand. International schools and hospitals are also widely available, making Pattaya an excellent choice for all manner of tourists and expats alike.
The city is located on a five kilometre long sandy bay with the busy area of central Pattaya being complimented by the quieter residential areas of Naklua to the north and Jomtien to the south.
Competition between the many hotels, bar and restaurants has resulted in Pattaya not only offering a large choice of high quality entertainment and dining options, but also some of the most reasonable prices in Thailand. The cost of a room, a meal and even a round of golf is significantly better value in Pattaya than in any other Thai beach resort. These relatively inexpensive living costs, coupled with the high quality infrastructure, has given the city an edge over other Thai resorts in attracting vast numbers of tourists and expats from all over the globe.
The property market in Pattaya remains buoyant with many new luxury condominium developments in the pipeline and a wide choice of affordable housing, mostly located in quiet suburban areas to the west of the main highway, Sukhumvit Road.
If you are looking for a destination with excellent amenities and the best lifestyle options in Thailand, look no further than the vibrant city of Pattaya.
